Je me rappelle avoir vu un reportage où un vendeur en puériculture insistait pour qu’un futur papa francilien qui n’avait pas le permis achète quand même un siège auto PARCE QU’ON SAIT JAMAIS. Alors déjà, il y a une forte probabilité, que, si, vous savez ce dont vous avez besoin.

Prenez le risque de ne pas tout acheter !

Et si vous hésitez ? Vous pouvez louer, demander à un· e ami·e de vous prêter, faire sans quelque temps…

Et si c’était urgent ? On vit entouré·es de centres commerciaux et de sites internet qui livrent (trop) rapidement : à moins que vous ayez prévu de vivre les 6 premiers mois de bébé à plus de 100km de toute civilisation, les achats peuvent souvent être reportés.

L’intérêt ? ne pas s’encombrer d’objets, garder de l’argent de côté (pour les imprévus, pour un rdv chez l’osteo, pour la babysitter…) et prendre confiance en vos compétences parentales.

Prenez un autre risque : demandez des biens non matériels pour la naissance de votre enfant.

When you look at baby registries, you can get easily overwhelmed by the amount of « essential » things to buy.

I remember watching a show where a store manager would advise a young father to buy a car seat JUST IN CASE. Said young father lived in Paris and didn’t even have a car…

Take the risk not to buy everything !

 And if you don’t know if something is useful or not ? You can try without it, or rent it, or ask a friend to borrow it….

And what if there’s an emergency ? We are surrounded by shops and websites that can deliver your parcel (too) quickly : it can come handy in case of emergency, unless you live at more than 100km from any civilization during the 6 first months of your baby.

What is the point of this article ? To live with less (hello Marie Kondo !), to save some money (for unplanned events, to indulge yourself with a massage, to pay the babysitter…), and to gain confidence on your parenting skills (which do not depend of what you can or cannot buy !).

Let’s take another risk : ask for non material gifts on your baby registry !
